I feel that this beautiful experience found us rather than say that we found it. My husband, Son, and dog were hanging out at Mingo Falls (Check out Mingo Falls.) I was taking in the beauty of the place and I said out loud “This is amazing.” At that moment a voice spoke behind me and said, “You think this is amazing? Wait until you check out Soco Falls.” After she said that, I was hooked. She mentioned it was close by and that it was going to be a challenge that involves mud and ropes. Later that night I mentioned it to my husband and we started looking up information. We saw a few reviews online, pics and videos. We decided to go for the challenge. It was worth it! Soco Falls is nestled between Maggie Valley and the Cherokee Indian Reservation. The location itself is very strange. Its entrance is on the side of the main road on the side of a mountain. The only indication is the map's directions and a tiny little sign above a 5-7 car parking area. Once you get out of the car you find a pathway that leads to a viewing deck. The viewing deck is far off from the waterfalls (yes, there are two and they are side by side!). Once you start heading back from the viewing deck you find another path that starts to lead to the bottom of the Waterfalls. The pathway begins to get muddy and you start seeing thick ropes extend from tree to tree, this is so that you can use the rope as railings if you find yourself in need (which you probably will! I sure did.) Is the journey impossible? Nope, my husband and I did it with our two-year-old inside a hiking carrier. Tips: For this adventure, I would highly suggest that you wear hiking shoes or outdoor athletic shoes with a good grip. Conventional sneakers or fashion boots(like those cute ones from Target 😍) are not advisable. Once you get through to the bottom, it's a great experience and well worth it. We went in late March and the temperature and water were freezing. I can imagine that during the Summer months it must be a great place to picnic and bathe.
