Mingo Falls is located in the Cherokee Indian Reservation (Qualla boundary), outside The Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Mingo Falls stands at about 120 feet (40 meters) high and considered one of the tallest in the Southern Appalachians. The trip from our cabin (click here for details on our stay) was about an hour and fifteen minutes. The hike is 1/4 mile long and requires climbing up steps; 161 to be exact. The hike itself is very short and despite the steps, fairly easy (we even took our dog.) The viewing deck is a bridge that goes over the bottom of the falls. Be advised that there is a water mist presence (from the falls) in the viewing deck. I was able to use my phone and my husband was able to fly his drone despite the mist but if you have a professional camera be aware of the water situation.Overall, the experience at Mingo Falls is worth the journey. I hope you enjoy your time there, I know I am definitely going back. Comments are closed.
